RED SPORTS, INC

In 2008, Red Sports started out as Category Five.

We knew we wanted to take our Passion for sport and

use it to serve a greater Purpose. Having started our

sister organization Hurricanes Basketball Dallas in 2007,

we felt that Category Five would be a great name

for our strongest supporters who would come alongside

us to partner in this endeavor!

After several years of inactivity, in 2014 the opportunity

for us to take a group of high schoolers to Mexico

presented itself. As we sought out non-profit status, our lawyors advised that we dissolve Category Five, as there would be too

many questions regarding it's inactivity, therefore we dissolved Category Five and created Red Sports.

Red Sports began with a desire to impact the Hurricanes organization beyond basketball and tap deeper into the heart and character aspect of the Hurricanes program. In 2014 and 2015, we took 5 leaders and 5 student athletes to San Jose Del Cabo (an improvish suburb of Cabo San Lucas, approx 40 minutes out) to run basketball camps. Our days consisted of running 2 camps a day (morning and evening) with a break middway for lunch and a few hours of rest. During our time there, we built relationships with the people, shared the gospel, and loved and served them well thru the bridge of sports!

During a trip to Costa Rica in November 2015, there was an evident need in Jaco. Opportunities became available within 30 minutes of our being there. We kept run into person after person that led us to want to bring our vision and mission out to Jaco. The hope and goal is to plant firm roots in this place. We do hope we will return to San Jose Del Cabo as well, but for 2016, our focus is in Jaco, and our hopes to do it well and do it right!! We love the people of San Jose Del Cabo and we hope to make it back some day soon.
